A Hinter Vans Sprinter driving through soft sand
How we build

Aluminium behind every wall.

Most vans are built the way they were thirty years ago. Ours aren't. Here's what's different, and why it matters on a corrugated road.

The problem with timber

What holds your fit-out together matters more than what's on show.

Timber is quick and cheap to work with, which is why most fit-outs use it. The trouble starts after the handover.

A typical timber frame

Fine in the showroom

  • Absorbs moisture and swells in wet weather
  • Moves with heat and cold, so joints open up
  • Screws work loose over years of corrugations
  • Rattles and squeaks get worse with every trip
The Hinter Anchorack frame

Built for the long way round

  • Rigid aluminium structure behind every wall
  • Every cabinet and fitting anchors to the frame
  • Waterproof composite materials throughout
  • Stays strong and straight through heat, wet and corrugations

Anchorack equipped

The part that matters most is the part you'll never see.

Anchorack gives every wall, cabinet and fitting a rigid aluminium structure to anchor to. It's our own system and only comes in a Hinter.

  • Aluminium frame behind every wall
  • Waterproof artificial stone benchtop
  • Waterproof composite ceiling and floor

Power

24V power. Your battery goes further.

Most vans run at 12 volts. Every Hinter runs at 24. The same power flows at half the current, so less energy is wasted and more of your battery goes into the things you're actually using.

  • The air conditioner runs straight off the battery and uses about half the power of a typical 12V unit
  • Heating and hot water run on diesel, so cold nights don't drain the battery
  • Batteries sit under the van, leaving more storage inside
  • Standard Victron parts any auto electrician can service

On the long wheelbase, add the optional 1,020W solar array and, in good sun, the panels can keep up with the air conditioner while it runs.

Certified and covered

Registered, insured and covered like a car.

Every van leaves with an engineer's certificate and a modification plate, so it registers as a motorhome and insures without argument.
